Upcoming trip: Cuba’s LGBT Pride week!

NOTE: We run a Cuba Pride trip every May! If you’re interested in the trip for this coming May, check our recent blog posts or drop us a line.

I just got word that Havana’s LGBT Pride Week will be May 4 – 10, 2015! So I’m organizing a trip from the 1st to the 11th to coincide.

They don’t call it Pride Week. It’s officially Havana’s celebration of the Cuban Day against Homophobia and Transphobia. But it’s a week of events, culminating in a big march/conga… so in English, I just say Pride.

Details

Beginning May 1 and ending May 11 in Miami, Florida.

Here are a few highlights of this People-to-People trip:

  • All the obligatory stops. I mean, we’re not skipping Old Havana, Revolution Square, the Malecón, etc.
  • Encounters with Cuban nationals – from scholars to performance artists to random friends of mine
  • Pride march/conga, visits to LGBT community spaces, and other queer activities
  • Pilgrimage to La Guarida, a restaurant based in the apartment where Strawberry and Chocolate was filmed

Like all my trips, this will be a small group – 12 people maximum – to keep things personal.
